meerecompany recently announced that it has successfully performed the first robotic ureteral reconstruction using Revo-i. This is the world’s first attempt at ureteral reconstruction using Revo-i, and the patient was discharged in good health without any complications after the surgery.

Dr.Jeong Hwan Son, Department of Urology at Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, conducted the ureteral reconstruction surgery-ureteroneostomy on a female patient, referred to as Patient A. The patient sustained ureteral damage following gynecological surgery at a previous medical institution. During the procedure, Dr.Son utilized the robotic surgical device to assess the length of the damaged ureter and proceeded with surgery to reconstruct the ureter in a tube shape by creating a flap from the bladder.

Unlike laparoscopic surgery, Revo-i robotic surgery utilizes articulated instruments, enabling highly precise operations. Additionally, the surgical area can be viewed at more than ten times magnification with a high-definition 3DHD camera, offering a significantly superior field of view compared to laparoscopic surgery. In particular, this enhanced visualization allows for more precise suturing of the narrow ureter during urological procedures, resulting in faster recovery and lower chances of complications.

Dr.Jeong Hwan Son stated, “Ureteral reconstruction requires meticulous work, so instead of opting for laparoscopic surgery, the procedure was performed using the Revo-i in a robotic surgery. Through robotic surgery, the operation time was shortened and the probability of complications and length of hospital stay were both reduced. As a result, the patient recovered quickly, and I am pleased with the surgical outcome.”

Executive Vice President Ho Kun Lee of meerecompany’s surgical robot division expressed gratitude, saying, “Although this was the first surgery performed with Revo-i, it was completed successfully, thanks to the experienced medical staff. We will continue to strive to provide safe and effective surgeries for more patients by utilizing Revo-i in various fields.”
