meerecompany (CEO Joon Koo Kim) announced on 17th that it has signed a supply agreement to provide its laparoscopic surgical robot “Revo-i” to Tunisia. With this agreement, the company secures its second entry into the North African market—following Morocco—further accelerating its expansion across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Revo-i was introduced at Hôpital Charles Nicolle in Tunis, a major university hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis. The hospital operates 549 specialized surgical beds and 498 internal medicine beds, making it one of the leading CHU (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire en Tunisie, University Hospital Network) institutions in the country.

Tunisia is regarded as one of the most advanced countries in North Africa in terms of medical infrastructure, attracting patients from neighboring nations such as Algeria and Libya[i]. Supported by a government-driven healthcare-hub strategy and foreign patient-attraction policies, Tunisia’s medical tourism industry accounts for approximately 9% of the national GDP[ii]. In this context, the introduction of Revo-i is expected to serve as a turning point in promoting the adoption of advanced medical technology in the region.

This milestone marks meerecompany’s second export within North Africa, following Morocco, and highlights the combined strength of Revo-i's technological competitiveness and growing trust in Korean medical innovation. In May this year, meerecompany participated in the FITA 2025 (Financing Investment and Trade in Africa) held in Tunis at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tunisia, where it showcased Revo-i and strengthened ties with local healthcare professionals. The new agreement represents the tangible outcome of those early collaborations, standing as a successful model of public-private cooperation in which public-diplomacy initiatives align with corporate technological leadership.

Ho Kun Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Surgical Robot Division at meerecompany, commented, “This contract is a key milestone proving the reliability of Revo-i in the North African region. Going forward, we will establish a structured local operations base by building training programs and clinical collaboration networks for medical professionals across the MENA region, centered in Tunisia.”

He added, “We also plan to strengthen cooperation with government and public institutions to facilitate follow-up exports in global markets.”
