[Whosaeng Shinbo] The ‘Revo-i,’ a South Korean robotic surgical system for laparoscopy has been recognized as the 10th Innovative Medical Device. 

 

 

It is especially expected to provide high-quality services to patients thanks to its great increase in use among large hospitals.

 

meerecompany has revealed that its robotic surgical system ‘Revo-i’ has been designated as the 10th Innovative Medical Device by the MFDS (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety).

 

 

 

 

“It’s a great honor and we are delighted to share this news that our robotic surgical system ‘Revo-i’ has received recognition as an innovative medical device,” said Hokun Lee, Surgical Robot Business Sector Manager and Managing Director of meerecompany. “We will do our best to reach out to small and medium-sized hospitals as well as the top-ranked general hospitals to provide high quality robotic surgeries to more and more patients,” he added.

 

 

 

He also said, “We are expecting that the systematic audit and fast authorization for innovative medical devices would help us to respond the fast changing market.”

 

meerecompany’s ‘Revo-i’ currently has been introduced to small and medium-sized hospitals in South Korea to be used for laparoscopic surgeries but the company will expand its business and reach out to top-ranked general hospitals.

 

Meanwhile, the MFDS designates ‘Innovative Medical Devices’ that are greatly improved compared to the other devices and treatment methods, especially in terms of stability and effectiveness, and is currently implementing policies for developing and commercializing the devices.

 

 

If a medical device is designated as an innovative medical device, it can be reviewed quickly or be eligible for fast track audit on the development process.
