Severance Successfully Ends International Robotic Surgery Live

[Rapportian] The ‘2019 International Robotic Surgery Live’, hosted by the Korean Association of Robotic Surgeons and organized by Yonsei University Severance Hospital’s Robotic Endoscopy Surgery Center was held for 2 days from the 13th to 14th at Severance Hospital. 

 

The International Robotic Surgery Live which is being held for the 13th time this year was participated by over 500 people including Korean robotic surgery medical teams in 10 fields such as Colorectal Surgery, Urology, Liver, Gall and Pancreas Department, Breast Department, Gastrointestinal Department, Otolaryngology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiothoracic Department, Nursing and Medical Engineering as well as specialists in the field of robotic surgery from 21 countries such as USA, India and Sweden. 

 

In the symposium, 9 live surgeries in total, including live surgeries using ‘Da Vinci SP system’, a single port surgical robot which was launched last year and adopted by Severance Hospital and prostate surgery and pancreas live surgery using domestic surgical robot, ‘Revo-i’ were conducted. 

 

Following last year, engineering sessions, applied with medical engineering and engineering technology were held. 

 

Myriam J. Curet, vice president of Intuitive, a company leading the world market in the field of surgical robot and Dr. Fred Moll, founder of Auris Health that has developed lung biopsy robot, gained attention by giving lectures on the theme, ‘Future of robotic surgery’.

 

Meanwhile, on Sunday, 15th, one day after the symposium, Cadaver workshop by Colorectal Surgery using Da Vinci Xi and SP system in association with this symposium was held in Severance Hospital’s Robot Endoscopy Surgery Center.

 

Min Byung Soh (Colorectal Surgery), Head of Severance Hospital’s Robot Endoscopy Surgery Center, who is leading this symposium evaluated by saying that “This year, a lot of foreign specialists showed interest in the domestic surgical robot, ‘Revo-i, elevating the status of Korean robotic surgery”.
