Kim Joon-Hong, CEO of Mereecompany stated that “It’s a pleasure to be able to present Revo-i, a minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical robot system that has successfully been developed after more than 10 years of effort” and that “We will focus on providing a robot-assisted surgery platform where true robotic surgery ecology could be established together with government institutes, medical field and industry-academic cooperation”.

Moreover, he revealed his ambition, stating that “Instead of stopping at maximizing the sales of surgical robots, we will pioneer exclusive surgical robotics market with a marketing strategy providing robotic surgery programs for both the hospital and patients”. Kim stated that the surgical robot that has been presented this time would continuously be upgraded and that the company had already commenced its development.

Lim Chae Min, former Minister of Health and Welfare delivered through his congratulatory speech that despite Mereecompany being a Small and Medium Enterprise, the aggressive investment and entrepreneur spirit contributed significantly to the development of local surgical robotics.

Mereecompany revealed that it would provide ‘Robotic Surgery Program’ without being satisfied with the sales of Revo-i system and ‘Device’ including parts in relation to Revo-i’s business model. Sales consultants in charge would analyze the needs concerning robotic surgeries per hospital and provide differentiated solutions per hospital. It plans to maximize the number of Revo-i surgeries in purchasing hospitals through continuous consulting after sales and provide a total solution for the company, hospital and patients to be in a win-win situation.

In particular, it revealed that the most important aspect from the perspective of the hospital and patient in terms of pricing policy was not the cost of equipment or the annual maintenance cost but was the cost per surgery and that the key was proposing the cost structure (integrated price comprised of cost of equipment, maintenance cost, cost of parts) capable of reducing approximately 42% compared to its competitors according to the hospital’s circumstances.

The safety, effectiveness, performance and convenience of Revo-i have already been verified through the clinical tests and a virtual training simulator called ‘Revo-Sim’ was also unveiled in this event for effective training to be conducted on users. This simulator, developed in partnership with a European specialized company, is not only equipped with basic maneuver practice module but also a module that enables users to practice actual surgeries through long-term 3D modeling.

Mereecompany plans to focus on establishing a Track Record starting from the advancement into a global top-notch domestic market then progressively implement the advancement into overseas market. For the overseas market, it revealed that it aims to target regions with high growth possibilities in future robotic surgery market with priority. In this event, Mereecompany clearly stated that through its ‘Robotic Surgery Program’ strategy, it will unfold sales based on the method of reducing the cost of surgery case and will establish a Revo-i ecology by partnering with companies in various specialized fields at both home and broad through open platform strategy.
