meerecompany signed a distribution contract for the surgical robot 'Revo-i' with a Thai large medical device distributor, spurring establishment of a bridgehead to the ASEAN market

meerecompany (CEO: Joon Koo Kim) said it concluded a distribution contract with KOSIN Medical Supply, a Thai large medical device distributor for the laparoscopic surgery robot Revo-i (hereafter referred to as Revo-i). Soon after the conclusion of the contract, the company is expecting to proceed with the certification of Revo-i in Thailand and supply Revo-i to Thai university hospitals within the same year.

KOSIN Medical Supply founded in 1979 is one of the largest Thai medical device distributors that distribute various medical devices, mainly including laparoscopic surgery products of European outstanding companies. KOSIN Medical Supply has in place a close sales network that has lasted for years with high-level hospitals equipped with modern medical facilities such as hospitals with the most and second most beds, including Siriraj Hospital which is leading the surgical robot market. It also introduces and provides training for various high value-added medical devices through direct communication with KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) in urology, general surgery and ob-gyn of university hospitals and national hospitals. The biggest benefit it provides is the opportunity to quickly introduce Revo-i to the Thai market as it features the greatest number of experts in laparoscopic surgery in the industry. In addition to Bangkok where the KOSIN Medical Supply headquarter is located, meerecompany is planning to actively run the Revo-i sales policy using KOSIN Medical Supply branches in Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Khon Kaen which are major cities in Thailand.

Lately, many ASEAN countries have been showing an active movement toward introducing the AMDD (ASEAN Medical Devices Directive), the harmonized medical device product evaluation and approval standard, with Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand at the center. By concluding the distribution contract with the large medical device distributor in Thai where the medical care level is relatively high among ASEAN markets, meerecompany has established a basis for active pursuit of advance to adjacent ASEAN countries as well as Thailand.

“It is inspiring that introduction of Revo-i last November to the Korea Cancer Center Hospital that is a general hospital-level public medical institution, together with the positive feedback on our Revo-i surgical robot training program we presented in 2022 KIMES held last month, led to this achievement of the distribution contract with the Thai large medical device distributor,” said Ho Kun Lee, Executive Director, Head of Surgical Robot Industry Division, meerecompany, adding that "the company will do the best to actively introduce Revo-i to the ASEAN market based on various robotic surgery references that are constantly being accumulated in the country."

Revo-i is a successful example of the domestic first commercialization of a laparoscopic surgery robot developed with the company's own technology. It features great benefits, such as allowing free movement using multi-joint instruments while providing a magnified view for more detail with a 3D high-resolution stereoscopic image, which improves accuracy in surgery and minimizes incisions for faster patient recovery.
