On the 22nd, meerecompany (CEO Joon Koo Kim) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (President Jin Kyung Lee). These agreements focus on collaborative research for the technical consulting and clinical validation of Korean surgical robots.

The MOU signing ceremony held on the 19th was attended by key officials, including Jin Kyung Lee, President of the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences; Dong Ho Kim, Director of Korea Cancer Center Hospital; Kang Hyon Song, Director of the Robotic Surgery Center at Korea Cancer Center Hospital; Joon Koo Kim, CEO of meerecompany; and Ho Kun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Surgical Robot Division at meerecompany. The ceremony began with congratulatory speeches by President Jin Kyung Lee and CEO Joon Koo Kim, followed by a presentation by Kang Hyon Song on the application of the Revo-i surgical robotic system at Korea Cancer Center Hospital, the signing of the agreement, and the exchange of plaques.

The two institutions plan to contribute to the advancement of Korean surgical robots and ensure the public accessibility of robotic surgery, thereby enhancing the quality of medical care. The Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, the only radiation medicine research institution under the Ministry of Science and ICT that operates a hospital, serves as a testbed for advanced medical science technology. Since 2021, the Korean Cancer Center Hospital has been conducting clinical validation studies for the Revo-i, the first surgical robot developed in Korea by meerecompany, to secure clinical reliability.

Key contents of the agreement include: ▲Development, utilization, and market expansion of Korean surgical robotic systems ▲Consulting and use of clinical data for the improvement and development of Korean surgical robotic systems ▲Mutual sharing of research results and collaboration in academic activities ▲Cooperation in promoting the clinical validation results of Korean surgical robotic systems.

As part of this initiative, the Korean Cancer Center Hospital has been designated as a Revo-i Reference Center by both parties, and a plaque ceremony was held to commemorate this designation. The Revo-i Reference Center will serve as a regional training institution, providing surgical observation and education to medical professionals both Koreanally and internationally by creating meaningful clinical case studies.

Jin Kyung Lee, President of the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, expressed, “As a public medical institution, we are committed to expanding the use of Korean surgical robots so that many cancer patients can benefit from advanced medical services.”

Joon Koo Kim, CEO of meerecompany, stated, “We are pleased to strengthen our collaboration with the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences and open a new chapter in Korean surgical robot research through this agreement. We expect that combining the clinical technology and expertise of the Radiation Hospital with meerecompany’s advanced technology will lead to innovative technological development and dissemination.”
