meerecompany signed a MOU with the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics (KSER)

for the development of urology and robotic surgery

It was announced on the 3rd that meerecompany (CEO Joon Koo Kim) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics (President Sung Hyun Paick) for urology department training of future robotic surgery medical staff and cooperation in domestic and overseas advancement of the surgical robot ‘Revo-i’.

At the agreement ceremony held on the 30th of June at Gwanggaeto Hall, Sejong University, Professor Sung Hyun Paick, the President of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics (KSER), the Department of Urology at Konkuk University Medical Center, Professor Kyung Jin Oh, Chonnam National University Medical School, Professor Phil Hyun Song, College of Medicine, Yeungnam University, Professor Woong Bin Kim, Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine, Professor Sung Gu Kang, Korea University College of Medicine, and Joon Koo Kim, CEO of meerecompany, and Ho Kun Lee, Head of Surgical Robot division, executive vice president, and other key stakeholders attended, sharing the common goal of developing urology and robotic surgery, and solidifying their will to cooperate in detail.

According to this business agreement, meerecompany and the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics will mutually cooperate to develop robotic surgery techniques in the field of urology in Korea. meerecompany operates the Revo-i Robotic Surgery Innovation Center as a systematic educational facility, and the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics prepares and conducts robotic surgery training programs for medical staff in the urology department. In addition, the two institutions agreed to cooperate on ways to publicize the product power and technology of Revo-i, a domestic surgical robot, in the global market.

Meanwhile, on the same day, a Revo-i hands-on session was held as the first part of mutual cooperation following the signing of the MOU. The hands-on session, which was held at the 30th annual meeting of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics(KSER 2023) held at Sejong University Gwanggaeto Hall from the 30th, was well received and all sessions were full.

Established in 1996, the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics is a representative society of minimally invasive surgery in urology in Korea, leading the promotion of related industries by promoting academic research and technological development in the fields related to urological treatment and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy using endoscopes and mechanical equipment.

Sung Hyun Paick, President of the Korean Society of Endourology and Robotics, said, “Recently, interest in Korean surgical robots has been high in the global market. With the signing of this MOU, it is meaningful to provide high-quality robotic surgery training to medical staff in urology and at the same time to have an opportunity to contribute to the development of domestic surgical robot technology.”

Meanwhile, Revo-i is a surgical robot successfully developed and commercialized for the first time in Korea by meerecompany. In May 2021, it was designated as the 10th Innovative Medical Device by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and was recognized for its advanced technology in the field of medical robot technology. In addition, it has been introduced to various medical institutions in Korea, including Severance Hospital, a tertiary general hospital, and has secured clinical safety and reliability in various indications.
